The Endless Drop

This idea came to me one day while I was playing Falldown during class. My mind wandered and I thought, "What is at the top of the screen that is so terrible? What is just below the screen that this little ball is so desperate to reach? Why do the barriers obstruct him, and why can the ball never reach the bottom?
